If you're thinking about counselling, the easiest first step is a free, 15-minute introductory call. There's no obligation to book anything afterwards — it's simply a chance to talk and see how it feels.
Get in touch
The quickest way to reach me is the enquiry form on the home page, or by email. I aim to reply personally within 24 hours on weekdays.
- Fill in the enquiry form — a few details and I'll be in touch to arrange a time
- Email me at anna@thehughespractice.co.uk
Please don't include sensitive health details in a first message — we can talk those through on the call. If you are in crisis or need urgent support, please don't wait for a reply: you can call the Samaritans free, at any time, on 116 123.
Where to find me
In-person sessions take place in a comfortable, private counselling room in Southville:
The Practice Rooms
226 North Street
Southville
Bristol

Getting here
Parking
There is free parking on the side roads opposite The Practice Rooms.
If you would rather park closer, there is on-street parking on North Street directly outside, and on the side roads behind. This is charged at £2.10 for one hour, £3.60 for two or £5.10 for three, with a maximum stay of three hours.
The Aldi supermarket car park is a short walk away and is free for 90 minutes, but please only use it if you have bought something there.
By bus
The number 24 stops very close to the rooms on North Street. The nearest stop is Greville Road.
Accessibility
All the therapy rooms are on the first or second floor, and the building is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
If stairs are difficult for you, please do say when we speak. Online sessions and Walk and Talk are both available, and I would much rather find an arrangement that works for you.
Other ways we can meet
Not everyone wants to, or is able to, travel to a room each week — so in-person sessions in Southville are only one option.
- Online, by video — anywhere in the UK, from wherever you feel comfortable.
- Walk and Talk — sessions out in nature, side by side rather than face to face. Read more about Walk and Talk.
